Description

On top of being a Most Patriotic Town finalist, Duluth has won multiple City of Excellence awards and the Best of Gwinnett award in 2010. Founded in 1821 as a part of Gwinnett County, the citizens of Duluth take as much pride in the town's rich history as they do in its progress, hence the motto "Pride in Old and New."

Considered a suburb of Atlanta, Duluth has access to big city benefits while maintaining a small town feel. The town has retained this small town feel even with its phenomenal growth over the years. Duluth is also a designated Tree City because of the town's constant efforts to achieve an eco-friendly lifestyle. Duluth ranks 26th on Forbes' list of America's Best Places To Move.

The town is known for its variety of restaurants, namely the local favorite Rexall Grill, which is attached to Rexall Drugs. After a bite here, head to Crave Pie Studio for their famous Red White and Blue Pie. Don’t miss the Southeastern Railway Museum to see over 90 pieces of retired railroad equipment and to learn about Duluth's railway history.

Among the abundance of year round events, visitors will enjoy the Summer Stage concert series and the annual Duluth Music Festival each August, the No Reason Block Party, Duluth Staycation, and festivities for nearly every holiday. For more on this patriotic town, read locals' reviews.

I love to see the flags on Veterans Day and Memorial Day, lining the streets and reminding us of our freedom. My Father-in-law died while testing a plane during WWII, so that is on 'his' flagstick, but my husband was named after his Dad, so the flag holds dual meanings to me. I love Duluth and raised both of my children here.

Duluth is a lovely community that feels like a small town but is nestled just outside of Atlanta. You get the best of both worlds - proximity to shopping, big shows, national sports and events while enjoying the comforts of a small town - well-attended community events, safety, beauty, space. It's a great place to visit or raise a family.

From playing in the fountain on the town green to browsing the shops on main street, from enjoying a walk through one of the beautiful parks to listening to the symphony back on the town green, Duluth has so much to offer in a friendly, small town setting. We love it here.

The City of Duluth is not just another "City." The City of Duluth is the culmination of the warmth and contributions of all of its residents. This creates a hometown support system and genuine feel of general happiness, well being, and safety. The City is very patriotic, caring, and active in community relations...more than a place it is "home" where everyone feels welcome and personally connected. The City offers many forms of community outreach including community parks, events and services, and community entertainment. The City strives for quality in living, work, and play. I can't think of another City coming together with as much southern hospitality, willpower, and care. A real City in a metro area offering a step into the looking glass with peace and tranquility. I love Duluth.

Duluth is a grat place to bring up kids, that is why our daughter and son in law bought a house where she grew up. It has everything a young couple want great schools, shopping, parks, restaurants. Etc.
