Description

Located in San Francisco Bay, the city of Vacaville (sometimes called “Golden Hills”) is about halfway between Sacramento and San Francisco. For tourists, there is plenty to do in this sunny spot. The city holds yearly Vacaville Fiesta Days, which boasts a parade with the local schools’ marching bands, gymnasts, and an electric car showcase.

For more family-friendliness, kids will enjoy The Nut Tree, which is home to a train for children and a life-size checkerboard, with plenty of dining and shopping options for adults. And for the shopping enthusiasts, visitors can visit the Vacaville Premium Outlets for bargains in 120 stores.

Don’t miss Downtown Vacaville, which offers a seasonal farmer’s market, a playground, top-notch dining, and Creekwalk–a venue which often holds concert series.

Christmas-time is a big celebration in Vacaville. The city has an annual Festival of Trees in its local ice-skating rink. Vacaville residents hold the Tree Lighting Ceremony, and enjoy music, hot chocolate, and horse-drawn carriage rides.

For recreation, Lagoon Valley Lake and the Pena Adobe Regional Park are great for fishing, hiking, or just getting some fresh air and beautiful views.

I grew up in Vacaville. I now am rasing my children here. Vacaville is full of fun, we have the creekwalk concert outside in the park all summer long its free and kid friendly. The fiesta days have been around for as long as I can remember there's a parade a carnival, hot pepper eating contest, pagents. We have the farmers market every saturday starting in May. There is the Halloween stroll where children dress up and trick or treat down town. We have the festival of trees this is where anyone in the community can decorate a christmas tree anyway they want and then it will be auctioned off for the local homeles shelter. Our christmas tree lighting "merriment on main" is by far the best tree lighting every! We sing carols, they light the tree and then Santa comes. My kids love it! Vacaville also has music downtown just about every weekend. There is the middle earth festival in April, there is the wine stroll downtown. The 4th of July event is so much fun hundreds and hundreds of people attend. Downtown is closed off lmusic from a local band is in the park w/food and children activities, and then the fireworks are amazing. Vacaville is the heart of Solano county the best place to stop on your way through our beautifull state.
