Lombard has beautiful homes, parks, schools, shopping, events and more that make it a wonderful place to live. There's no comparison to the pride that Lombard residents take in their community. May is known as Lilac Time in Lombard. The annual event includes the famed Lilac Ball and special events throughout the community - and culminates with the annual Lilac Parade down Main Street. The Arts and Crafts Fair and Spooktacular are downtown Lombard street festivals that generate thousands of visitors. Cruise Nights combines vintage cars and live music to become a summer staple. Taste of Lombard is an Independence Day tradition and boasts one of the most popular fireworks displays in the Chicago area. Lombardians enjoy outstanding library and park district facilities. The Helen Plum Memorial Library offers thousands of volumes and extensive programing, while the Lombard Park District has 17 parks and facilities totaling 450 acres for a myriad of recreational activities. The new Paradise Bay Water Park is an award-winning aquatic facility and a huge draw to the community. Lombard has historical sites such as the Lombard Victorian Cottage Museum, a newly constructed Carriage House and the Sheldon Peck Homestead. Lilacia Park is breathtaking with poetic appeal. Premier bowling lounge Lucky Strike and AMC Theatres at Yorktown are fun-filled diversions for visitors of all ages. Lombard is known for its shopping and dining scene, anchored by the 120-acre Yorktown Center. Lombard is a friendly Midwestern town and welcomes visitors. Come join in the fun!

Lombard has many fun things to do! We have 2 great biking paths – The Great Western Trail and the Illinois Prairie Path that avid bikers can travel. Lombard has some of the prettiest parks in all of DuPage County with walking paths, Frisbee golf, playground areas, a skateboard park, Paradise Bay Water Park several splash parks, a beautiful 9 hole golf course and so much more! Lilac Time in early May each year hosts many events from a downtown craft fair: the Lilac Queen Coronation, Tours of Lilacia Park which features over 700 lilacs and 25,000 tulips, a Housewalk, the Lilac Ball, and the Lilac Mutt Strut just to name a few – all culminating with the annual Lilac Parade, one of the largest parades in DuPage County. Summertime in Lombard has weekly Saturday night Cruise Nights featuring music, food and fun. There is a Farmer’s Market with entertainment at Yorktown Center and in early July people from all around converge on Madison Meadow Park for the annual Taste of Lombard and the best July 4th fireworks around! Look for wine and beer tastings, Pub Crawls, Spooktacular and other seasonal events in the fall. Lombard also has the annual Jinglebell Jubilee event in December, which has Santa arriving atop a fire truck, the lighting of the downtown Christmas Tree and the countdown and lighting of beautiful Lilacia Park. There are horse and wagon rides, Christmas Carol sing-a-longs, craft fairs and much more. Lombard has something for everyone, and if you can’t find the fun then you aren’t looking very hard!

The really fun/interesting thing about Lombard, is everywhere you go you know someone. Whether its one of the many beautiful parks, bike trails, Yorktown Center, Jewel, Downtown Lombard, or many other businesses. I always run into someone I know. Somehow we are a town of 43,000. It feels more like 10,000. We bleed Lilac and White!

Not too big. Not too small. Just right. That's the way I would describe Lombard. Big enough to find everything you want, but small enough to know the people you run onto by name. I like that. Friendly people, too. I grew up in Chicago and people don't look at you as they rush past you to where ever they have to get to. But, In Lombard, people will stop, smile and answer a question or print out directions. Great festivals, great places to dine and beautiful parks. A fun place. I love Lombard.
