Description

Sandpoint, ID has an overwhelming view from the Long Bridge into town with Schweitzer Mountains creating the backdrop and Lake Pend Oreille perfectly supplementing the setting. A 43-mile long, glaciated body of water, Pend Oreille, is the fifth deepest lake in the U.S. with 111 miles of shoreline. Its pristine waters are a major factor in the community of Sandpoint’s high ranking as a premier tourist destination. Visitors can take a ski lift up 6,800 feet for the majestic view or try a boat cruise down below.

The area offers plenty of outdoor activities from skiing and boating to biking or hiking. Attractions include the Cedar Street Bridge Public Market, Silverwood Theme Park, Boulder Beach Waterpark, and Farrugat State Park. Visitors can also enjoy the Bonner County Museum or the Panida Theater.

For avid golfers, Sandpoint is an ideal destination. Sandpoint and the surrounding area boast numerous courses and a wide range of course options. Nearby hotels offer affordable “stay and play” packages.

Sandpoint is a peaceful small town on the shore of Lake Pend Oreille in the foothills of the Selkirk Mountains. The lake is beautiful, uncrowded with a mostly undeveloped shoreline and perfect for a refreshing swim in the summer. Schweitzer Mountain is a cool escape from hot summers and in the winter, the skiing is fantastic with 3000 acres and gorgeous views of the lake below. The town itself has great restaurants, a winery, two breweries, art galleries and wine bars. It's a close-knit community.

Big, stunning Lake Pend Oreille. Surrounded by three of the Rocky Mountains frontal ranges, the Selkirks, Cabinets and Bitterroots. A hip arts town with friendly and diverse people. A terrific ski resort, Schweitzer, out the back door. Gotta love Sandpoint.

Sandpoint is one of the best kept secrets in travel and truly a place for respite from our frenetic lives. Whether you prefer reading a good book in a rowboat on magnificent Lake Pend Oreille, or soaring down the mountain at Schweitzer Resort on a diggler or a bike. The people, the food, the ambiance, all are amazing. The line on their visitors guide says it all - What a Wonderful Pace.
