Description

Lombard, Illinois is full of fun and exciting things to do and see! The Village, located about 20 miles from downtown Chicago, offers a variety of activities to engage the whole family. Lombard has beautiful homes, parks, schools, shopping, events and more that make it a wonderful place to live. There's no comparison to the pride that Lombard residents take in their community. May is known as Lilac Time in Lombard. The annual event includes the famed Lilac Ball and special events throughout the community - and culminates with the annual Lilac Parade down Main Street. The Arts and Crafts Fair and Spooktacular are downtown Lombard street festivals that generate thousands of visitors. Cruise Nights combines vintage cars and live music to become a summer staple. Taste of Lombard is an Independence Day tradition and boasts one of the most popular fireworks displays in the Chicago area. Lombardians enjoy outstanding library and park district facilities. The Helen Plum Memorial Library offers thousands of volumes and extensive programing, while the Lombard Park District has 17 parks and facilities totaling 450 acres for a myriad of recreational activities. The new Paradise Bay Water Park is an award-winning aquatic facility and a huge draw to the community. Lombard has historical sites such as the Lombard Victorian Cottage Museum, a newly constructed Carriage House and the Sheldon Peck Homestead. Lilacia Park is breathtaking with poetic appeal. Enchanted Castle Restaurant & Entertainment Complex is an entertainment complex with 60,000 square feet of kid fun. For older kids at heart, WhirlyBall provides an exciting game that combines basketball, hockey and bumper cars. Premier bowling lounge Lucky Strike and AMC Theatres at Yorktown are fun-filled diversions for visitors of all ages. Lombard is known for its shopping and dining scene, anchored by the 120-acre Yorktown Center. Lombard is a friendly Midwestern town and welcomes visitors. Come join in the fun!

I love Lombard! As a 14 year resident, I have found that my idea of fun has changed. When we moved here our children were toddlers. We had wonderful times at the parks, parades and even just riding the Metra train to anywhere. Now my children are teenagers and they enjoy concerts at Lilacia Park, cruise nights, Paradise Bay Water park, Civil war reenactments and Yorktown Mall. As an adult, I love the downtown Lombard events such as outdoor viewing of the Blackhawk's games and the pub crawls. The excitement of Lilac time and the rich history that our two museums offer make this the "Most Fun" place to be.

There is always something going on in Lombard. Cruise nights, movies in the park, house walks, parades, Civil War re-enactment...the list goes on and on. Plus, we have a wonderfully designed waterpark. What's not to love about our little town. The people are friendly, schools are wonderful and it's a great town to raise kids.

I moved here 5 years ago from Chicago and I didn't expect to fall in love with Lombard! The downtown is charming and welcoming. The people friendly and fun! The restaurants, shops and activities are top notch! There is always something to do just steps away from my front door!

When I was looking to buy my first home, not only did I know I wanted to live in Lombard but I wanted to be right by Madison Meadows for the Taste of Lombard. The Taste is a 5-day fest around the 4th of July run by the not-for-profit Lombard Jaycees that has all your typical fest stuff. Food, carnival, music and much more. It's like a big high school reunion every year. The money raised goes back into the community. The Jaycees also run what is rumored to be the longest running Haunted House in the country. Like the Taste, the money made goes back into the community. This project purchases food and Christmas presents for needy families in town for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is always something to do in this town. The Lilac Parade is another favorite. Cruise Nights. Pub crawls. Spook Walk. This town has it all and I can't imagine living anywhere else.

What other town has a Dairy Queen with an ORIGINAL Dairy Queen sign. See the pictures.....and the Historical Commission in Lombard registered it as an "Historic Sign" so that it cannot be changed to the newer version. We all love it! It is a gathering spot in town and Main St. wouldn't be nearly so much fun without it. I vote for Lombard as most fun!
