The oldest town in Texas lives by the mantra “Keep Nacogdoches Friendly,” with businesses embracing hospitality training to become Texas Certified Friendly even. The community is so small the mayor is also the local dentist, and everyone’s approachable.

Visitors can explore Millard’s Crossing historic village, Lake Nacogdoches, or Lanana Creek Trail. Most notably, Nacogdoches is home to Stephen F. Austin State University and serves as a warm welcome for students away from home.

Local favorites include the Saturday farmer’s market and The Blueberry Place, where you can pick your own blueberries right off the vine and leave payment in a basket on the honor system. Visitors are encouraged to experience historic local bed and breakfasts, stroll the nature trails, and browse antiques while in town.

A true small town, where many people have grown up together and everyone is somehow connected. It's rare to meet a complete stranger.

Even if you are not from Nacogdoches, the people from Nacogdoches have an uncanny way of making you feel like you are at home. They want to know about your life, your family, your job; they want you to be comfortable and enjoy your time in Nacogdoches. There is never a day that goes by that someone doesn't say hi to you on the street. Its the type of town were the people at the local sandwich shop know your name and your typical order. I love this place and could not imagine living anywhere else.

Nacogdoches is the greatest town with the friendliest people. Everyone still waves as you drive by... We have the most wonderful brick streets downtown that keep the charm alive. We just moved to Nac less than a year ago and LOVE it! My kids say, "Everyone is so nice; they even wave at you when you are walking or driving by." We have felt very welcome here since we moved!
