Description

Mountain culture and craftsmanship converge in Berea, Kentucky, nestled in pretty Appalachian foothills. Berea College students make furniture, textiles, and ceramics sold in the Berea College Log House Craft Gallery. The students' work is also shown at Berea Arts & Crafts Fairs held in the nearby Indian Fort Theater. Dine and overnight at the Berea College's Boone Tavern Hotel and Restaurant, a 1909 white-columned, Colonial-style building. Northwest of Berea, Kentucky, is Harrodsburg, Kentucky's Old Fort Harrod State Park where there's a frontier fort and Civil War museum. The charming Inn at Shaker Village is at the Shaker Village Pleasant Hill educational, historic preservation complex. Heading south from Berea, Kentucky, on I-75 you can hear the sweet sounds of the dulcimer and fiddle twang crescendo as you near Renfro Valley, Kentucky, home of the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
