This tour will be flanked with water as you tour the lakes and woodlands country. Venture east into Ontario, and finish with a dip south toward the U.S. border. Your start in Winnipeg will be full of tourists, bustle, and museums. Head east and stop at Whiteshell Provincial Park near the Ontario border. The park is huge and very popular to both citizens of the area and visitors. Farther east find yourself mesmerized by the history at Old Fort William. It is a meticulous reconstruction of the fort where hundreds of fur trappers gathered in the summer for the Great Rendezvous (the annual meeting of the North West Company), and offers tours, artisans' shops, a farm, and a historic restaurant. If you are a canoeist, end your tour at Quetico Provincial Park, home to 930 miles of canoe routes.
