Washington Street/ Monument Circle Historic District

Description

The Washington Street/ Monument Circle National Register Historic District is most known for the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, built in 1901, located in the center of the originally platted 1821 city limits of Indianapolis. This district is home to the beginning of commerce in Indianapolis and many of the architecturally significant structures related to the city's commercial history can still be seen today.
