Wahkpa Chu'gn Archaeology Site

Description

During the period between 2,000 and 600 years ago, three different cultural groups used this site as a camp and buffalo jump, stampeding herds over the cliff to secure meat year-round. This site is the most extensive and best preserved buffalo bone deposit in the northern Great Plains. It's open for tours from June 1 to Labor Day, daily from 9 AM to 2 PM ; the rest of the year by appointment only. Tours cost $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $3 for students.
