Description

Founded in 1974, UT has become Tennessee's flagship university and a leading national public research institution. Located on 560 acres in Knoxville, the school accommodated over 25,000 students in its 236 buildings in 2010-11. The institution offers more than 300 degrees and boasts 500 student athletes. The notorious orange Volunteers, or "Vols," compete in the SEC in 20 varsity intercollegiate teams.
