Tulare County Museum

The modest Tulare County Museum, located in shaded Mooney Grove Park, features an extensive collection of Native American artifacts, from baskets belonging to the Yokuts to early settlement-era belongings such as guns, saddles, clothing, and furniture, as well as many other objects of everyday life. Also on the five-acre grounds are two original farmhouses, a pair of one-room schoolhouses, a jail, and a blacksmith shop. Visitors are welcome on limited days and hours; admission is free, but there is a small parking fee. Located on the same campus, a new facility called the Museum of Farm Labor and Agriculture showcases rotating exhibitions highlighting the different groups that have come through the county over the years and helped shaped what it is today. A permanent collection will include educational features on the evolution of the hand plow and the history of irrigation.
