Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge

This refuge's Tanana River provides a pivotal route for birds migrating between Canada, and Central and South America, called the Tetlin Passage. More than 125 species live in the forests, lakes, mountains, and rivers among the Alaska Range. The visitor center is located seven miles from the U.S./Canada border at mile 1229 of the Alaska Highway. The 65-mile refuge can be explored by foot, floatable airplane, snow machine, or watercraft.
