St. John Lead Mine

Description

Originally a natural cave, St. John Lead Mine was once mined for lead by the Native Americans. By 1827, Wisconsin's "Lead Rush" was in full swing, where lead crystals made some rich. Guided tours allow you to get a close view of the furnace and stalactites along the onyx cave walls.
