Prosperity School B&B

The best way to get in touch with local history is through total immersion, and this bed-and-breakfast offers just that. Inside a 1907, brick, two-story former schoolhouse, four classrooms are now four unique guest rooms. All have pastel color schemes, lacy window sheers, and period-appropriate furnishings: here an elegant settee or wicker chaise longue, there a canopied four-poster or a brass bedstead. All rooms also have en-suite baths---some with jetted or soaking tubs for two---and Homework Scrapbooks with information on the school, the B&B, and the surrounding area. Public areas include a dining room, where the hearty breakfasts are served, and a Victorian-style parlor. Some of the “guests” are from a bygone era as well. There have been numerous reports of ghostly apparitions, many of them children. From all accounts, they’re shy, friendly, and even a bit playful, so this is a great place for novices to try their hand at ghost hunting. When booking, ask the innkeepers about which rooms are most active. The inn also has several package deals, including seasonal specials, as well as a resident miniature dachshund named Tinker.
