Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park

Steal away to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, part of the 90-mile stretch of crashing surf and dramatic coastline known as Big Sur. These 1006 acres of redwoods, conifers, and oaks offer abundant campsites. Big Sur Lodge, located within the park, has 61 cottage-style rooms that can be reserved by calling 800-424-4787. The lodge is a full-service hotel with restaurant, state-owned and run by a private concession. There is a two-night minimum stay on weekends. Backcountry hike-or-bike sites are also available. Trails lead to pristine areas like Big Sur River Gorge and Pfeiffer Falls. Pets: Leashed pets are permitted on campgrounds but not on any trails, on most beaches, and in park buildings. Guide dogs are exempt from these restrictions. Reservations, fees, and requirements: California has a central telephone number for reservations at state park campgrounds: 800-444-7275. There is a nonrefundable fee charged for each reservation made. Reservations are highly recommended for all campsites. Most state parks charge a nominal day-use fee, which varies from park to park depending on facilities. Appropriate California hunting and fishing licenses are required to engage in these activities.
