Peace Tower

Description

The Peace Tower, also known as the Tower of Victory and Peace, is a famous bell and clock tower in the Canadian parliament complex in Ottawa. It serves as a Canadian icon and emblem, and can be seen on the Canadian $50 and $20 bills. The 302-foot tower is covered in detail with stone-carved gargoyles and friezes. The tower also serves as a memorial -- the Memorial Chamber was built to honor lives lost during Canadian involvement in World War I and II. Stained-glass window displays are of particular note to visitors -- namely The Call to Arms, The Assembly of Remembrance, and The Dawn of Peace.
