Parowan's Historic Cemetery

Nestled under the red cliffs and juniper trees at the mouth of Parowan Canyon, Parowan’s historic cemetery is the oldest cemetery in southern Utah and features the artistry of all seven stone carvers from the mid-nineteenth century – other cemeteries may contain the works of one or two carvers. Inscribed upon these early head stones are genealogy, dates, verses of love, and symbols of hope, love and belief in the hereafter. Within the cemetery are the stories of leaders, families, immigration, Utah’s first Olympic Gold Medal winner, tragedies, and a glimpse back in time. Cemetery tours can be made by appointment.
