Parowan Old Rock Church Museum

Description

Parowan’s historic “Crown Jewel”, the Rock Church, stands in the center of the townsquare. Construction using local rock and timber began in 1863 with work completed in 1867. The interior was designed after the Salt Lake City Tabernacle. Over the years, the building has been used as a church, town council hall, school building, social hall and tourist camp. In the 1930’s, the local Daughters of Utah Pioneers restored the building and it now houses a collection of pioneer artifacts and photographs. The museum is open during the summer and other times by appointment.
