Oregon Zoo

At this 64-acre zoo in Washington Park, you can wonder at the creatures of Africa’s rainforest and savannah, visit with Asian elephants, watch chimpanzees play, listen to tigers chuff, and watch penguins or polar bears swim. There are also plenty of habitats that introduce you to the wildlife of Latin America, Asia, and the Pacific Northwest. Lorikeet Landing, Trillicum Creek Family Farm, Wildlife Live, and behind-the-scenes tours are among the more interactive offerings.

Rounding things out are two aviaries, a botanical garden, and an insect zoo. The ZooStore sells a great mix of sustainably made gifts, educational toys or games, and souvenirs. Note that plans are underway to add or upgrade habitats and other attractions. Check ahead to see what’s going on as well as to see the calendar of daily activities and seasonal special events.
