Old Idaho Penitentiary

Built in 1870, the penitentiary served the state until 1973. Guided tours now take you to the cell blocks and solitary confinement, and guides spice things up with tales of desperate folks. There’s an exhibit of prison tattooing, the J. Curtis Earl Memorial Exhibit of firearms, and seasonal events such as Gingerfest for redheads and Romancing the Pen Valentine’s Day tours.
