Ohio Village at Ohio History Center

Description

This living-history site is a composite of structures that would have existed in a typical 1890s Ohio community. Among the 20-odd historic and reproduction buildings are a town hall, general store, church, bicycle shop, schoolhouse, bank, and inn. The town is also home to two 19th-century-rules baseball teams—the Ohio Village Muffins and the Lady Diamonds—which play games with other vintage baseball teams from spring through fall. Halloween is also big in Ohio Village, with lots of spooky special events and activities.

Adjacent to the 15-acre village is the Ohio History Center, headquarters of the state’s historical society. This repository of more than 2 million items relating to Ohio history and archaeology has both permanent and changing exhibits. Be sure to check out the collection of battle flags carried by various Ohio regiments in the Civil War.
