North Carolina Arboretum


Adjacent to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 393, and located on land within the Pisgah National Forest, the NC General Assembly established the Arboretum in 1986 as an affiliate of the University of North Carolina. This 434-acre public garden is located within the Bent Creek Experimental Forest, showcasing 65 acres of cultivated gardens and 10 miles of hiking and biking trails. Highlights include a special bonsai collection, indoor art and educational exhibits, regional art and items at the gift shop, guided trail and cell phone tours. Paid admission required.
