New Mexico State University Botanical Gardens

Description

If you time it right, you’ll be able to smell honeysuckle and see peony, columbine, or rose blooms at the university's Fabian Garcia Botanical Gardens. Regardless, you’ll find plenty of pathways lined with prickly pear or cane cholla cacti and shaded by Mexican elders and Mediterranean fan palms. Take in all that beautiful landscaping from the lovely gazebo, a popular place for weddings. And, while you're on campus, try to visit the university's unique Chile Pepper Institute and garden as well as the University Museum, where changing exhibits pull from a vast collection of Native American, Hispanic, and colonial artifacts and memorabilia.
