Museum of New Mexico

Description

This cultural treasure trove, operated by the New Mexico Office of Cultural Affairs, consists of four museums in Santa Fe plus six monuments found around the state. The Palace of the Governors, built by the Spanish in the early 17th century, houses exhibits exploring 450 years of New Mexico history. The Museum of Fine Arts is an early example of Santa Fe style, which is based on Pueblo architecture. The Museum of International Folk Art displays both permanent and temporary exhibits from its extensive collection gathered from cultures around the world. A modern building houses the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture.
