Monhegan Museum

Description

Don't miss this delightful lighthouse museum housed in the old keeper's quarters near the center of the island. Local residents have donated most of the displays, including antique ice-cutting and fishing equipment. Early Indian and settler exhibits provide a window to the former inhabitants' unique way of life. Also, be sure to visit artist studios located near the village. About 20 artists spend summer on the island, and many welcome visitors during posted hours.
