Mohawk Hudson Bikeway

Description

One of the first railroads was constructed between Albany and Schenectady. Concerned that Troy would loose out, a rail line was constructed several years later between Troy and Schenectady. The right of way of this early railroad has been retained and now used as a paved bikeway from one end of the Mohawk Towpath Byway corridor to the other. From Niskayuna to Cohoes the Bikeway forms the southern boundary of the Byway Corridor and is one of the Byways great recreational resources.
