Mayowood Mansion

Description

The Mayo Clinic was founded in 1914 by Dr. William Mayo and his sons, Will and Charlie. Charlie's palatial 38-room mansion, Mayowood, overlooks the Zumbro River valley. Today, Mayowood is operated by the Olmsted County Historical Society and is open to visitors for one-hour tours. Hours vary, so call 507-282-9447 for information. Admission costs $12 for adults and $5 for children 15 and under. It's located at 3720 Mayowood Road SW. Turn west off of Route 52 onto Mayowood Road and drive about 2 miles.
