Lake Compounce

Opened in 1846 and saved from the wrecking ball in the 1990s, Lake Compounce is the oldest continuously operating amusement park in North America. A few remnants of its earlier days remain, including the Wildcat wooden roller coaster from 1927 and an old-time (1898) carousel. Throw in some contemporary thrill rides---with names like Thunder 'N Lightning, Rev-O-Lution, and Sky Coaster---and some kiddy rides, and you have something for everyone in the family. The pools, slides, and raft rides at the Crocodile Cove water park are a great way to keep your cool. A triple-launch coaster, Phobia Phear, debuted in 2016.
