Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park


This 1,239-acre park, located on the Kaministiquia River, is equipped with a playground and self-guided trails. The park is open for cross-country skiing December 1 to March 31. You can view the falls year-round. Numerous campsites, some with electrical hookups, are available. Reservations are required for all campsites. The park is 32 kilometers from Thunder Bay on Hwys 11 and 17. The Falls are known as "Niagara of the North" and plunge 40 meters. Pets: Leashed pets are permitted in park and campgrounds but not in any beach areas. Reservations and fees: Ontario has a central reservation phone number for all provincial park campgrounds: 888-668-7275. There is a nonrefundable fee over and above any campsite fees for each reservation made. The maximum stay is three nights. There is a nominal daily park entrance fee per vehicle for the day-use areas.
