John C. Stennis Space Center

Description

NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center offers exciting and informative programs including guided tours, films, demonstrations, and extensive collection of exhibits and displays. The center, one of NASA's ten field centers, is the primary site responsible for testing and certifying rocket propulsion systems for shuttles and other space vehicles. StenniSphere, the Stennis's visitor center, includes exhibits such as the International Space Station, Space Shuttle Cockpit, Test Control Center, a lunar lander, Weather Forecasting Center, a motion simulator offering rides to Mars and Saturn, and a real space shuttle main engine. There is also a 25-minute bus tour of the center, too. When the center tests space shuttle main engines, visitors are allowed to stay and observe. Admission is free. The center is open in summer from 9 AM to 5 PM daily. Winter hours are 9 AM to 4 PM Monday through Saturday. The center is closed on major holidays.
