J.E. Reeves Victorian Home & Carriage House Museum
Step back into the elegance of the late 19th Century by visiting the J.E. Reeves Victorian Home & Carriage House Museum. This opulent mansion, the former home of prominent Dover industrialist, Jeremiah E. Reeves, has been restored by the Dover Historical Society. The 17-room home, topped by a third-floor ballroom, has been carefully restored to its original splendor. The beautiful family furniture and decorative objects can be viewed up close, as there are no ropes or barriers prohibiting your entrance into the rooms. Adjacent to the Home is the Carriage House Museum, which contains an interesting collection of vehicles, including a handsome horse-drawn carriage, the Reeves Family sleigh, a rare 1922 Rauch and Lang electric car, and a doctor’s buggy. Looking carefully in the upper floor of the Carriage house, you will find an interesting display of Canal Dover: Life in 19th Century Tuscarawas County, which includes a focus on Dover's rich history as a canal town.
