International Rose Test Garden

Description

It should come as no surprise that Portland, known as the City of Roses, is home to the oldest (and probably most scenic) rose test garden in the U.S. It’s also one of the most comprehensive, with over 6,800 bushes representing more than 550 varieties. Set in Washington Park the gardens also afford spectacular views of downtown Portland, majestic Mt. Hood, and volcanic Mt. St. Helens.

Blooms tend to be at their height from June through August. Early June is also when the city celebrates its moniker with parades, fireworks, and other events during the annual Portland Rose Festival. Don’t miss the Rose Garden Store, with all kinds of bloom- and garden-related items.
