Halifax Citadel National Historic Site

Description

Completed in 1856, the Halifax Citadel was the fourth permanent stone fort to be built to protect the area against American land attack. Today, guides take visitors through the fort, where historical re-enactments are performed during summer. You can also visit the Army Museum, which traces colonial military history. Citadel Hill offers beautiful views of the area. Halifax Citadel National Historic Site isalso home to the old town clock, dating back to 1803.
