Everglades Safari Park

Less thanthree miles from the border of the Everglades National Park, the longtime crowd-pleaser Everglades Safari Park lets visitors experience the wildlife and River of Grass that dominates more thanone million acres of the federal preserve at the southern tip of Florida. It's anybody's choice as to what is more fun: the 30-minute, high-speed, narrated airboat ride skimming the wetlands or getting to hold a young alligator for a great picture to e-mail back home. There is also an educational alligator demonstration, observation trails, and a large, enclosed pond that holds more than 400 gators as well as crocodiles. The elevated trails let visitors get a feel for the vastness of the 'Glades as well as the opportunity to spot waterfowl and other critters. The airboat ride is part of the admission, but visitors can hire their own ride, too, including a sunset one.
