Essex Steam Train & Riverboat

Description

Take a break from driving with a vintage train trip through the Connecticut River Valley. If you like, combine your ride with a riverboat cruise. You’ll depart by rail from Essex station for a 12-mile narrated trip through wetlands and towns to Deep River Landing. Here, you’ll board the three-deck Becky Thatcher riverboat and glide past coves, inlets, and historical sites like the Goodspeed Opera House. Some trips also combine a train and ferry ride with a hike to Gillette Castle.
