Diamond Circle Melodrama and Vaudeville

Before movies, there was melodrama a genre of theater known for its exaggerated acting, enjoyably implausible story lines, and accompanying piano music. The Diamond Circle troupe has revived the tradition by staging performances of melodramas written in the late 1800s. Before the curtain rises, munch popcorn, enjoy a drink, and sing along with the piano player to tunes like "Hello My Baby." Then during the show, join the rest of the audience in booing the villain, cheering the hero, and gasping over the heroine's inevitable peril. Will she be forced to marry the evil squire to save her family from poverty? Will the hero escape after he's tied to the railroad tracks? Shows at 7:45 PM, every night except Tuesday, from mid June to mid September. Reservations are recommended, but not required.
