Desert National Wildlife Refuge

Description

The largest wildlife refuge in the lower 48, these 1.5 million acres encompass six mountain ranges in the Mojave Desert. The refuge primarily protects bighorn sheep while it is home to a diversity of plants, forests, and other wildlife. Visitors can hike, camp, backpack, hunt, birdwatch, and ride horseback.
