Delmonico's

Description

If you like eggs Benedict, you have this place to thank. It’s just one of the many firsts at America’s first restaurant. Before the Delmonico brothers opened their doors in 1837, fine dining at individual tables and choosing from a selection of dishes printed on menus were unheard of. By the Gilded Age, anyone who had made it in New York dined here. The setting is as stately as ever. Dress accordingly, and note that reservations, though not required, are a good idea.
