Dalton Defenders Museum

Description

In addition to paying tribute to famed baseball pitcher Walter "Big Train" Johnson and presidential also-ran Wendell Wilkie, this museum commemorates the fateful day in 1892 when four of the five fearsome frontier bandits known as the Dalton Gang met their deaths at the hands of Coffeyville's outraged citizenry. In addition to the museum's photos and mementos of the event, a walking tour guide shows visitors to the Condon Bank, where the famed shootout began, "Death Alley," where the gang's corpses were put on public display, and more. The Dalton Museum is open Monday through Saturday 10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday 1 to 4 PM. Admission costs $6 for adults, and $3 for children ages 7 to 17.
