Chequaga Falls (Shequaga Falls)

Upstate New York is known for its waterfalls, Niagara Falls being the most famous, but many others such as Shequaga Falls in Montour Falls, NY, are worth a visit. The 156-foot-high Shequaga Falls are located just off Main Street, right in the village. Visitors can sit on benches in a small park with views of the charming cascade. Shequaga Falls, which has a bridge above it, tumbles into a peaceful pool. The frothy falls are illuminated at night, and they're open all year. Summer and fall are the most popular times to visit the falls, but they're also gorgeous during the spring, right after the winter thaw. Have a picnic by the waterfalls on warm days. During the coldest times of the year, there's ice climbing. Watkins Glen State Park, which receives more than 40,000 visitors annually, is within walking distance of Shequaga Falls. The area around the falls also offers recreation such as sailing, biking, horseback riding, camping, and shopping.
