Central Market

Local farmers have been bringing their goods to Penn Square in downtown Lancaster since the 1730s, earning for the Central Market the title of America's oldest continuously operating farmers market. It's still the place to take in the bustling excitement of morning market days. Breathe in the smell of fresh-baked whoopie pies, snickerdoodles, and shoofly pie. Admire the home-grown produce and the 100-pound blocks of cheese. Check out Charles Lang's grate-as-you-wait horseradish stand. And don't leave without tasting the sweet Lebanon bologna and the hefty soft pretzels. From meats and cheeses, fresh produce, breads, baked goods, Amish jarred pickles and preserves to quilts, crafts, and more, you'll find everything you need right here. Open Tuesday and Friday 6 AM to 4 PM, Saturday 6 AM to 2 PM.
