Blue Vista Farm

Northern Wisconsin: snow, lakes, and . . . agriculture with a view? On Blue Vista’s slopes, soak up Lake Superior before plunging once more into raspberry canes heavy with plump red fruit ($3.25/lb.). Half-high bushes and dwarf trees invite toddlers to pick their fill of Patriot blueberries and Honeycrisp apples ($2.25/lb., $6/peck). Pick flowers, too. Ball-shaped dahlias, swaying sunflowers, and 300 other varieties grow well given the elevation and southern exposure. Purchase them fresh or dried, even arranged, in the shop tucked into the big red barn’s fieldstone foundation. Dried Nigella buds, hanging from the support beams, go for reasonable prices.
