Benefit Street

Description

Benefit Street preserves one of the finest collections of colonial houses in the U.S. A stroll down this "Mile of History" takes you past beautifully restored buildings once home to merchants and sea captains. Dedicated preservation has allowed Benefit Street to become one of the nation's premier living historic neighborhoods. Stop at the Providence Preservation Society to pick up more information. Private tours are available. To reach the Benefit Street area and the Preservation Society, located at 21 Meeting Street, exit I-195 at Wickenden Street. Benefit intersects Wickenden just east of the interstate.
