Ashdown Gorge Wilderness Area

Description

Ashdown Gorge and Wilderness is a non-motorized protective area adjacent to Cedar Breaks National Monument. A series of trails through the area link experience hikers from the top of Cedar Breaks down to Woods Ranch area in Cedar Canyon on SR. 14. This trail follows much of the wagon trail route used over a hundred years ago to bring pine timbers from the top down to Cedar City to construct the original buildings for Southern Utah University. From Rattlesnake Trailhead, the trail traverses down through the spires of Cedar Breaks into the forest including a pass by Flanigan’s arch.
