If huevos rancheros and chilaquiles (lightly fried tortillas with eggs, cheese, and beans topped with a red chile sauce) are on your list of breakfast favorites, head to Andele, a family-owned restaurant in Old Mesilla a couple miles south of Las Cruces. It’s the perfect preamble to a stroll through this historic shop- and gallery-filled village. There’s also a full lunch and dinner menu featuring posole (a hominy soup, made here with pork, red chile peppers, and other spices), nachos, tacos al carbon (made with marinated rotisserie-roasted meat), enchiladas, tortas, and other made-from-scratch-daily Mexican dishes.
